Surely you want to spend this year’s vacation in a quality way, yet a bit differently. Welcome to Breginjski kot. Breginjski kot is a green valley caught between the Nadiža river – according to oral tradition it has healing powers – and the mountain Stol, welcoming hikers, paragliders and lovers of alpine flowers.
Start your day of with a cup of aromatic herbal tea, listening to birds sing and enjoying the view of the luxuries greenery all around you. Spend your day actively; you only need a bathing suit or a pair of comfortable walking shoes. Finish it off on the ‘gank’, enjoying the sounds of nature, church bells chiming and watching swallows returning to their nests.
Four generations of our family have chosen one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia for their home – Breginjski kot (the Breginj corner)1. Surrounded by forests, meadows, mountains and rivers, in a region not polluted by heavy industry and spoiled by shopping centres we try to find the connection between man and nature. We returned sheep and goats to overgrown pastures and vegetables and harvest to fields, empty and forgotten in the past. In everything we do we try to combine tradition and past experiences with all the commodities of modern time. Our tourist offer is perfect for guests who want to spend their holiday in an active and healthy way, in touch with nature.
The Tonkli holiday house is located in a small village called Logje at the end of Breginjski kot, before the road descends to the Nadiža river and ascends back up to Robidišče. In an old stone house, renovated in the local style, there are three apartments with modern furniture and a stone-arched cellar.
The original layout of the old house reflects the past, whereas the modern furniture enables our guests a comfortable stay.
Our offer is only a small addition to what the beautiful nature and Breginj heritage have to offer to our guests. Bathing in the Nadiža river is certainly a pleasure you should not miss. Nadiža harbours its most beautiful pools only 1.5 km from the house. And when you’ve had enough of the crystal-clear water, we can offer you:
- biking or hiking trips through the nearby area (we also rent out bikes)
- organized picnics and weekend trips (Soca Valley, Rezija, Božca)
- water sports on the Soca river (kayak, canoe, rafting, canyoning)
- tandem paragliding
- baking bread in a traditional way.
The Stol region is protected by the Natura 2000, a comprehensive ecological network of areas designated by the European Union member states. The main objective of the network is to conserve valuable biodiversity for future generations. In one of these regions you can seduce your senses with the aromatic smells of medicinal herbs. And if you’re an early riser, you can enjoy watching a black grouse (Tetrao tetrix), a rock partridge (Alectoris graeca) or a corn crake (Crex crex).
