The first FLOW FESTIVAL LJUBLJANA will take place from June 26-28th in Tobačna mesto – a historic building complex of a tobacco factory that operated in the heart of Ljubljana for over 130 years. The walls hold countless stories from the past, but are now about to be a part of a wonderful new story that is Flow Festival Ljubljana.
Tobačna mesto
If we take a look back in history, Tobačna factory was one of the most important manufacturing complexes in Ljubljana’s history. This industrial site was, even way back in the 19th century, designed as a small city within the city of Ljubljana. It had, among other industrial facilities, their own kindergarten, library, fire brigade and even a choir.
An urban fragment, kept hidden behind walls for years, was recently introduced back to the city in the form of “Tobačna city”. A space with huge creative potential is getting occupied by creative professionals and revived into it’s former state of urban sprawl. This summer, “Tobačna city” will become a stage for a diverse set of music, art and culinary events that will attract numerous visitors from far and wide to rediscover this almost forgotten part of Ljubljana. Flow Festival aims to preserve and respect the historical value of Tobačna, while at the same time set new guidelines for its future.
