This luxury boutique hotel in Slovenia is the perfect destination for guided walking holidays in Europe and the beautiful foothills of the Julian Alps. The hotel is situated close to the medieval town of Skofja Loka and is an award-winning Slovenian Cultural Monument which has been renovated to the highest standards, offering luxury accommodation and excellent cuisine.
Our maximum number of hotel guests is ten so you can be assured of attentive, personal service and small walking groups. We have one aim – to offer you the best walking holiday of your life! We offer week long walking holidays with accompanied walks 5 days a week, or you may choose to walk alone some days using our route cards. After a day walking, all that fresh air gives you an appetite, but don’t worry – food is a highlight of walking holidays at Pri Lenart and gourmet meals are lovingly prepared from the freshest local ingredients, with excellent quality wine included!
Pri Lenart Hotel is situated halfway between the Slovenian capital Ljubljana and the popular tourist destination of Lake Bled. Its position in the Škofja Loka hills, part of the foothills of the Julian Alps, makes it ideal for discovering the hundreds of miles of superb, varied routes, all in a relatively undiscovered part of Europe.
Pri Lenart is an ancient manor house close to the medieval town of Škofja Loka. The house is listed as a Slovenian Cultural Monument, due to the importance of its numerous frescoes and architecture dating from the 1500s. First extended in 1662, the property is a fascinating mix of styles, with many original features such as carved wooden ceilings, vaulted ceilings, and a stone wine cellar (put to good use for the benefit of our guests!) The house has been immaculately restored, with enormous attention to detail, to give our guests the chance to stay in a truly historic building, but full of modern comforts and luxuries. In 2011 we were awarded the Slovenian National Cultural Heritage Stele prize for the exceptional restoration of a listed building.
There is a large living/dining room with squashy leather sofas, and a cosy wood fire on cooler evenings. There are a further two seating areas, free internet access with WiFi throughout the house and a library for guests to enjoy. The five bedrooms can accommodate a maximum of ten guests.
Outside we have a garden with a large jacuzzi, a sun deck and a covered barn/ terrace with views to the distant hills where you can relax after the day’s activities.
For your luxury walking holidays in Europe, look no further!
We believe that delicious food is an essential part of a good holiday, so our menu changes daily to reflect the produce available and the changing seasons. We have a large, organic fruit and vegetable garden and orchard, which form the basis of our seasonal produce (please note that as we are at 900 metres above sea level, our seasonal crops are generally later than can be expected in England). We source as much of our other food as possible from local organic farmers and local specialist shops.
We pride ourselves on offering delicious, balanced menus using best quality local ingredients and prepared with care and skill in our own kitchens. Eating with beautiful hand made cutlery and on fine bone china further adds to the enjoyment of your meals.
To accompany dinner, we offer our own label Slovenian wine (included in the holiday price). The wines are carefully chosen and blended by Keith with the red coming from a small Slovenian family estate in the Vipava Valley, southern Slovenia, while the white wine is from the east of Slovenia from the well known wine region close to Maribor.
We offer you an accompanied walk 5 days a week, giving you one day free to relax, walk or explore alone, or perhaps visit the capital Ljubljana, or medieval Skofja Loka. Our guided walking takes in some of the finest views in Europe. We mainly follow paths through woodland and meadows to upland alpine pastures with fantastic views and exceptional flowers and walks generally last around 6-7 hours including stops for refreshments, picnic lunch, etc.
Alternatively, you may choose to explore independently using the extensive range of well signed paths and routes, and we provide route cards and maps for walks leaving straight from the door – there is a wide range of walking to suit most people who want to explore alone, from steep, challenging walks to gentle strolls. Or you may choose to just relax and unwind, go flower watching, or stroll to a mountain hut for a few cold beers before falling asleep in the sun – the choice is yours!
