Upper Savinja valley is one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Europe. The valley is surrounded by white mountain-peaks and green forests, rising above the Savinja river, which springs up under Okrešelj in Logarska valley. The rural town Mozirje is a gateway to the Upper Savinjska valley as well as the valley’s administrative center. The town was first mentioned in the year 1146, and it gotten its trading rights before the year 1318. Mozirje got its crest in the year 1581.
Mozirje was for all these centuries know after its craftsmen and its imposing farms, which were scattered around the surrounding hilltops. Since the year 1970 you can find on the Mozirje Mountain a Mountain tourist center Golte, where are numerous ski slopes and a hotel, which was built this year.
Golte offers handful of opportunities to be in a close contact with the pure nature, with plants and animals. In summer the ski-slopes are replaced by green pastures, on which farmers from surrounding farms grazing their horses and cattle. There are limitless chances for hiking and biking.
The true pearl of Mozirje is a Flower-park Mozirski gaj. The park gives a home to the crafty work of European gardeners. All year around you can find variety of flowers and other plants. There is also and ethnographic collection of old buildings and a chapel, dedicated to St. Valentine and to all the lovers who had said “I do” in it. On the 1st of May and the 15th of August you can visit the traditional flower exhibitions. In the autumn there is a pumpkin exhibition with the competition for the heaviest pumpkin in the Europe.

Tourism are we, people who know how to enjoy our selves in our valley, where we are surrounded by beauty of forests, water and mountain tops. In our proximity is Topolšica spa (14 km). Today the spa is a modern recreational and health resort with the restaurant. Only 15km from Mozirje is a town Velenje where you can visit the Mining museum of Slovenia, which is located 180 m under the surface of the earth. There is also a nice museum exhibition at the Velenje castle.

- Discover the meeting point between the past and the present. You are welcome to visit Museum Vrbovec, The Museum of Forestry and Timber Industry in Nazarje, small exhibition about rafts men (flosarji) in Ljubno ob Savinji. Exhibition called Mozirje and its people and exhibition about Aleksander Videčnik can be seen in Mozirje. There is also an ethnologic collection in Štekel gallery in Gornji Grad and a pillory in Rečica ob Savinji. You can visit two permanent exhibitions. First is an exhibition about Potočka zijalka cave in Logarska valley, the other is an exhibition about felted cloth products in Solčava.
- Lift your soul and visit a vast number of sacral buildings that are at your disposal. There are St. Jurij`s church in Mozirje and cathedral of St. Mohor and Fortunat in Gornji Grad. In Radmirje you can find a treasury of mass mantles and if you go to Nazarje you shouldn’t skip a visit to the library of the Franciscan monastery. There is also a gothic church of Marija Snežna in Solčava, the church of a Holy Ghost in Podolševa and a chapel of Christ the King in Logarska valley.
With us you will never get bored. Solely the view from your balcony will take you to the surrounding hills, Kolovrat, Dobrovlje and Čreta.
Not far from your suit is a beautiful Mozirski gaj, that unfolds it self on area of 17,30 a. There are interesting ethnographic buildings, theme inspired gardens and a St. Valentine’s chapel.
4 km away is a town called Žekovec. From there you can take the cable car to the Mountain Tourist Center Golte. You can also reach Golte from Žekovec on foot. There are many marked hiking trails that will lead you to the top. On the top you will be able to enjoy a walk around the highest lying alpine garden in Europe. In the winter the ski slops are waiting for the beginners as well as for the more experienced skiers.
Mozirje offers many different activities for active vacations. In front of Mozirski gaj is a pond where you can try your fishing luck. Fly-fishers will be glad to visit rivers Savinja and Dreta. You can hunt and photo-hunt and try yourself in bow-shooting. You can take a bike ride to the Logarska valley and visit imposing Rinka waterfall. From there you can take many hiking trips to the mountains. The adrenalin junkies can go on rafting or kayaking on Savinja river. They can also paraglide or visit a cave Snežna jama.
