QUARRY IN HOTAVLJE
North of the village Hotavlje at the base of the Blegoš mountain, there is a modern quarry where we extract the Hotavlje marble in environmentally friendly underground galleries. This is 230-million-year-old Carnian limestone, commonly known also as “the Hotavlje marble”. It is of a non-homogeneous structure with an expressed lively colour passing from dark grey to grey and greyish-pink, pink and red. It has an attractive mottled image with irregular patches of grey, opaque yellow or scarlet dolomite in small rhomboid crystals, white and coloured calcite veins and several remains of fossils, mainly algae. The Hotavlje limestone is very precious for us as we know already all of its secrets and its beauty. It is suitable for use in internal surfaces, and in suitable thicknesses also for external paving and equipment. On the surface, we may achieve a high-gloss finish, however, the marble is suitable for any type of treatment: grinding, brushing, bush hammering, pointing, sanding. It also plays an important role in the restoration of architectural heritage.

 

QUARRY GALIT
In Bosnia and Herzegovina – at Široki Brijeg, we obtain breccia limestone galit. Its colour is basically light grey, fragments and connecting substance are of unevenly intensive brown and reddish tones. Tiny veins and joints between the fragments are partly light (calcite), and partly more brownish-red stressing the image of breccia. Galit is excellent for different types of surface treatment: polishing, bush hammering, pointing, sanding or brushing. Due to its warm brownish-red tones it may be equally used for internal as well as external surfaces. The stone resembles the colour of earth due to its characteristic tones, and is suitable for parks with stone pavers, solid borders, ramps, staircases and walls.

 

QUARRY AT JEZERSKO
At Jezersko, in the river Kokra valley, we obtain light-yellow brown perforated carbonate mineral tuff or “light stone”, which is still being formed along the water. Tuff is the most suitable for construction in solid pieces, it is resistant to frost and due to its porosity useful for vertical surfaces. The warm colours and the nice soft surface are especially appreciated in the architecture in the Alpine regions of Europe.

Due to the recognized value of natural materials, stone is becoming increasingly relevant in the everyday environment. We highly appreciate the use of stone from local deposits, where this is appropriate and possible. However, depending on the technical and design requirements, we sometimes have to choose stone from around the world. In addition to limestone, marble, granite, sandstone and quartzite, we are also impressed by colourful stones: breccia, onyx, travertine. Some are available in “unlimited” quantities, others are intended solely for exceptional “boutique” products. The most important criterion is often the selection of stone colour, which can never be completely determined by the colour scale. We have to learn to respect the uniqueness and diversity of nature and not just look for a shade that may not exist; let’s choose a stone and adapt to it.

In our own quarries in Hotavlje (the stone of Hotavlje), Jezersko and (tuff) Široki Brijeg (galit), we cut blocks, which are the basis for products with the trademark Marmor Hotavlje Group. All stone blocks are unique by colour and structure. They have proven their aesthetic value and quality on facilities all over the world.

Stone is a solid construction material which may be shaped and built in with traditional methodology or with the most advanced CAD technology. As a rule, surface or sculptural solutions of various sizes are usually custom-made and are adapted to the wishes or requirements of the customer to the greatest possible extent. From consultancy, to the design solution, the choice of stone, to the construction and installation a close and time-coordinated cooperation with the customer is ensured.

COUNTERTOPS
Kitchens, bathrooms, etc. – luxurious, practical, resistant to heat and water, easy to maintain; minimalistic and functional, or playful in the Baroque style and purposefully relaxed.

FIREPLACES
Just as in the past, also to modern man, the fireplace represents a central focus, warmth and home. The intimate proximity of the fire, trapped in a crystalline framework of stone, invites us to a dramatic play of burning, and flickering flames. An open fireplace, positioned in the centre of the living environment, is an ideal place for an outstanding stone design: from rustic structures of massive, naturally smoothed stones to an innovatively designed frame with the value of artistic sculptures.

CUBES, KERBS
Rising from a long tradition, surfaces paved with cubes give the effect of timelessness … With them, we can pave surfaces with various shapes, directions, inclinations, with sharp or soft passages, and with variegated kerb solutions, we effectively divide the paved surfaces from the non-paved ones.

RUSTIKA NATURAL DECORATIVE STONE AND BUNJA STONE
With this stone, we clad walls for protection against humidity, damage and wear, due to technical requirements, but mostly because of the incredible sense of beauty and atmosphere we create.

SHELVES
External shelves are resistant to humidity and frost, internal shelves are colour selected according to the ambience or are made from neutral white and grey stones … a big advantage of stone shelves – horizontal stone surfaces – is their ability to adapt to various forms and functions, all depending on the individual wishes and imagination. Some external and internal shelves of standard sizes are always in stock, for more demanding clients, we may make them to special order.

STEPS
Internal or external, flat or radial, solid or made as paving, perfect in combination with other spatial design elements (with fences, ramps, walls) and elegant kerb solutions.

PAVERS
Stones are beautiful, practical, eternal…, a flooring material which constitutes our Earth… Internal or external, more or less loaded, adapted to various purposes; colours, structures and textures are selected according to the customers wishes and provide a coordinated design.

A space equipped with stone, is reminiscent of comfort, aesthetic experience, functionality and durability, so as a rule it makes sense to find good solutions which start with a well considered design, detailed solutions and end with an excellent performance and proper maintenance. Our company is among the first who is well aware of the importance of such approach, therefore we have developed a high level of participation of all the experts (architects, designers, technology experts, installers) in the execution of each (more complex) order.

BATHROOMS
The applicability and beauty of all types of stone floor pavings and wall claddings on the wet surfaces in bathrooms can be very well harmonized with the design preferences and the customer’s desires, as individual claddings seamlessly transform into spatial solutions for countertops, wash-hand basins etc. Stone countertops are practical, easy to maintain and resistant to mechanical damage, heat and water. The size of the slabs depends on the size of the blocks, in one piece, we may have a few square metres of any thickness, with glued edges, and with hidden or accentuated joints. Stone is an excellent heat transmitter and goes well with floor heating.

KITCHENS
The usefulness and beauty of all types of stone pavings, wall claddings and work tops in kitchens. The equipment of summer kitchens can be perfectly coordinated with the design preferences and the customer’s desires, as individual claddings seamlessly transform into spatial solutions for countertops, wash-hand basins, hearths etc. Work tops or countertops made of stone are practical, easy to maintain and resistant to mechanical damage, heat and water. The size of slabs depends on the size of the blocks, in one piece, we may have a few square metres of any thickness, with glued edges, and with hidden or accentuated joints.

FAÇADES
Houses have always been made of stone. Today, solid construction would be too expensive, and a modern construction method requires the minimum heat loss through the façade layer. Stone on façades is used as cladding while exploiting its advantages: durability, natural material, following traditional approaches, design of modern urban centres etc.

The façade coating of buildings may be covered with stone in different ways: with standard cladding by gluing stone slabs and anchoring them to the construction wall, with a façade coating of panels anchored to a stainless steel substructure with an intermediate thermal lining and air layer, with a solid cladding as a secondary wall that is anchored to the basic structure.

OUTDOOR DESIGN
When we think of stone, we think of nature, mountains, rocks, sandbanks, the poetics of traditional land (Karst) and we have a feeling of harmony, warmth and the importance of the building. Nothing is more in harmony and natural as rocks, plants and water.

WALL CLADDINGS

The stone is preserved over time and use, in its location it is more defiant than any other material, with age its patina inspires us, and in culture, we have adopted it as a symbol of eternity.

In some interior areas, we wish to maintain its gloss, prevent wear and the ingress of dirt, mostly on horizontal floor pavings, work and countertop surfaces. To this end, we offer special products for cleaning, care and protection of stone, which vary depending on the type of stone, surface treatment, and its outdoor or indoor use, on kitchen countertops, and it is necessary that their ingredients are natural. For the care and maintenance of natural stone, we recommend organic cleaning products from the German company MÖLLER-CHEMIE, which are available in our company. For the maintenance of integrated natural stone contact our sales service or the shop. Various coatings and protective products used by the customer or its authorized contractor without our prior consent, invalidate any warranty for the working, appearance and durability of the natural stone products.
